Chavez slams poor government planning, discipline, failure to apologize
VHeadline News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue reports: The best way to avoid war is to prepare for it, President Chavez told military officers attending his Sunday radio show from Acarigua (Portuguesa) ... US President Obama received a warning not to make a mistake with Venezuela.
Chavez said the threat from Obama and the USA greater than ever and pointed to US interference in Honduras and the 7 bases in Colombia. The Armed Force (FANB), the President announced, must not lose another day in preparing for war and getting the militias up and working, training students, workers and women to assume their roles in the defense of the nation. Addressing Obama, Chavez reiterated that Venezuela is ready for anything and will never be the colony of any power again.
The main part of the show was dedicated to housing since the President handed over 240 apartments of 1,000 that will be handed over during the week. Chavez took to task Minister of Public Works & Housing, Diosdado Cabello and his two vice ministers for failings in planning since the complex still lacked production areas.
The idea of the Socialist housing complexes, Chavez declared, is to have not only common areas but more important still an industrial complex where people can find employment. The ministers were told to take notes and tackle people's problems, such as one of the new house-owners with two daughters but no work. The miniseries and companies must work and plan an integrated solution.
The Iranian company that built the complex in a joint venture was also pulled up short for failing to follow directives regarding production centers.
The key failure seems to be planning and Chavez criticized the State Governor of Lara and Mayor of Caracas-Libertador for digging up the streets for a transport plan that had to stop because of lack of resources and worse still, he commented, nobody has been accountable or apologized to the public.
Another critique launched by Chavez is that none of the people responsible for works or missions talks about Socialism or the Bolivarian Revolution or rooting out vices ... such as a case of the manager of a Socialist factory, living in Caracas and (Chavez hinted) covering hefty viaticum and other perks, apart from the Bs.F 10,000 he earns a month.
Corruption, Chavez argued must be tackled and stamped out through revolutionary discipline on the part of ministers and heads of public institutions.
The President gave another example of indiscipline and incompetence, even though he did not use the word. He asked three ministries last night for information on a company that had been taken over by workers and only received the information this afternoon at 1.00 p.m.
Another suggestion for State Governors is to seek other sources of financing through production initiatives. and a review of salaries, viaticums etc.
The President warned of the danger of a Fourth Republic Restoration, which would eliminate all missions and Socialist projects unleashing persecution of anything or anybody that whiffed of Chavism.
