VHeadline News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue reports: The National Elections Council (CNE) has announced that it will set up 4,890 tables in 1,492 voting centers to allow the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) choose 772 delegates to attend the first extraordinary congress in November.

Party national coordinator and Libertador Mayor, Jorge Rodriguez visited the CNE headquarters in the company of party first vice-president, Cilia Flores and vice president for the eastern region, Aristobulo Isturiz.

The visitors presented the official list of aspirants to delegates after sorting out applications and consultations.

According to Rodriguez, there are 2.4 million party members group in Socialist patrols.

The CNE has come up with the idea that candidates will appear on voting papers alphabetically and identified with a number and a circle which will be filled in by the voter.

Rodriguez stated that tables will be set up in all 335 municipalities of the country, which means full national representation at the Congress.

Inside the party itself, there are serious power struggles raging in municipal and regional levels, especially in key states such as Carabobo and Zulia.

Some comrades complain that since the opposition offers no problems, in-fighting has broken out internally, much to the disgust of President Chavez, who has made reiterated calls for unity inside the PSUV.
