Venezuelan government worried about effect of drought on water supplies
VHeadline News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue reports: Government sources are said to be drawing up plans to ration the supply of water because the rainy season has started late this year.
Traditionally, the rainy season starts at the beginning of May but rains are only now starting to fall and fill rivers. The weather delay has affected water storage systems.
Hidrocapital water company president, Alejandro Hitcher confirms that measures are being taken at the moment to avoid having to ration water in Caracas, Miranda and Vargas States.
Hitcher reports that the delay of rains for over a month has affected the three main coastal supply systems, Tuy I, Tuy II and Tuy III.
People in the Greater Caracas district have been asked not to waste water and to use it wisely.
