Venezuelan government categorically rejects US report as purposefully deceitful and interventionist
Aporrea.com: The Venezuelan government has categorically rejected a report submitted last Wednesday by the United States in which it attempts to evaluate the Human Rights situation in Latin America, inbcluding Venezuela. An official statement released by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) says that "the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in defense of its sovereignty, firmly and categorically rejects the publication of US State Department report, in which it attempts to evaluate general conditions of Human Rights in different countries around the world, including Venezuela."
"The Venezuelan Government finds this recurrent US bureaucratic practice of illegitimately proclaiming itself to be the judge of other countries acceptability, given that the United States itself has the darkest record and history of violations of human dignity in contemporary history."
"The Venezuelan Government rejects the false contents of the report ... it is purposefully deceitful and interventionist and is not based on facts but rather on the opinion of anti-Venezuelan sectors, which, inside and outside of Venezuelan territory, continue to spread their rejection of the Venezuelan people's right to determine their own destiny."
"The government led by President Hugo Chavez demands that US authorities should put an end to these practices, which further injure relationships between both our nations. This relation must be based on respect, equality and non-intervention in internal affairs ... these are fundamental principles that will always be defended by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of its sovereign people."
