Venezuela's PDVSA to increase workforce as oil production levels increase
Prensa Latina: Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA has committed to gradually increase its workforce, to cope with the predicted increase in production levels.
According to the company's development programs, oil extraction is expected to increase from the current 3.2 millions of barrels daily to 5.8 millions by 2012.
Refinery capacity is also predicted to grow substantially in the coming six years, with the construction of several plants in the country. Only this area is expected to generate nearly 10,000 jobs, and employees should be qualified for all tasks.
PDVSA is estimated to have 74,918 workers, taking into consideration that several thousands of employees were incorporation after the nationalization process on the Orinoco Strip.
Nearly 38,000 new jobs are planned to be created, with 45 percent of them in oil prospecting and exploitation.
