VHeadline.com News Editor Patrick J. O'Donoghue writes: Venezuela National Lands Institute (INTI) has announced the intervention of Blanca Aurora farm in Zulia State.
This is the fourth farm in the State that has been intervened and it consists of 2,809 hectares situated in Rio Chiquito, Catatumbo municipality.
- Although it is owned by one Otto Rincon Aguirre, it has been learned that peasants, belonging to the following cooperatives: La Gran Zuliana, Flor de Araguaney, Maisanta 2 and Blanca Aurora, have been on the farm for the last seven years.
An INTI technical team has started an investigation.
INTI president, Juan Carlos Loyo says that if the investigation is favorable and is beneficial for peasants, the farm will be declared a Zamorian farm.
INTI South of the Lake Maracaibo coordinator, Major Ruben Diaz Marcano maintains that his office wants to provide immediate anwers to local peasants.
Referring to legitimate owners, the Major adds that if unproductive farms are found to be lacking in resources, INTI will hand over a certificate of improvable farmland to help them economically.
Owners will also be paid compensation for assets, as is usual in farm interventions. Local agricultural leaders claim that all the farms are fully productive.
