If/when US tanks enter Caracas, the streets would be bloodier than in Iraq

VHeadline.com guest commentarist Dr. Harold Mandel writes: If Bush orders an invasion of Venezuela to remove whomsoever the CIA has labeled as the left-wing, radical regime of President Hugo Chavez Frias ...the losses will be catastrophic.

On the days prior to the invasion, the United States Air Force and Navy would be ordered to neutralize as much of Venezuela's military power as possible.

Around the clock, air raids would result in not just the blowing apart of Venezuelan military installations ... the lives of multitudes of civilians would also be shattered as school houses, coffee shops, banks, homes and more would be blown up in the crossfire from the raids.

  • The American ground invasion would then be met with a strong defense and the casualties on both sides would be high.

As American troops flood the country, the strained Venezuelan resistance would give way to the development of insurgency forces ... the fighting would be brutal as American tanks enter Caracas with the streets bloodier than Iraq.

There would be no winners in such a war.

Bush must stop planning such an invasion of Venezuela and must instead begin to respect Chavez as the democratically-elected and popular social reformer that he undoubtedly is.

Our editorial statement reads:
VHeadline.com Venezuela is a wholly independent e-publication promoting democracy in its fullest expression and the inalienable right of all Venezuelans to self-determination and the pursuit of sovereign independence without interference. Our stance is decidedly pro-governance (defined as being contrary to anarchy) and pro-government to the extent that we support all and any government policies aimed at consolidating and improving the living conditions and future prosperity of ALL Venezuelans, regardless of race, color or creed. We also seek to shed an international spotlight on nefarious practices and corruption which, for decades, has strangled this South American nation's development and progress. In every respect VHeadline Venezuela's declared editorial bias is most definitely pro-Constitutional, pro-Democracy and pro-VENEZUELA.
